finally, back from field camp. wad an experience sia!!! was a little aprrehensive going in becos Ulysses has a reputation of dishing out very tough field camps and i went in sick somemore which made me felt even more terrible.

started the camp with a 6km route march from BMT to campsite with a bloody full battle order that weighs like probably 25-30kg. the walk was tough but fun, and im proud to say Platoon 4 did not have any drop outs unlike the other platoons. reached campsite and had to build our bashas immediately. that was tough sia, all shagged out and still have to build tent and dig drainage. this should be the toughest part of the camp liao, but it really proves that everything is jus a mentality problem.

lessons were particularly fun; fire and movement, FCO, camouflage, range card, field discipline and many others. i missed a bit of FCO cos i reported sick in the morning of day 2. fever was 38.3 degrees. fuck, wasted my time lar, was at the MO from 0730 all the way to 1330 and i saw the MO for only 5 mins. should have jus stayed at campsite and taken some panadol.

unluckily for us, it rained cats and dogs on day 2. which meant all of us were wet and mud covered, our bashas were not spared too, totally wet and the groundsheet muddy like hell. the sleep at night was damn cold sia. but becos of the rain, we learned to cook in the field with our rations. Sgt Matin(he looks like kobe bryant!!) taught us how to use milo and biscuits to make pudding. that was nice sia, the entire platoon ended up making pudding. hahaha. kinda reminds me of adventure camp where we had to cook our own food too. but that was at ubin and we were not cold and tired.

throughout the camp, i did not bath and brush my teeth at all sia. that feeling sux sia. but we had powder bath where we covered ourselves white with prickly heat powder. that was cool sia. everybody had fun, especially the powder bath song. took quite a number of photos during the camp also. in our undies to being in camou. den at night, we were not allowed to use our torch lights as it would risk detection by the enemy. that was tough sia cos we had to work in pitch blackness. platoon 4 was held in high regard lar, cos we maintained the best discipline out in field and our fall out rate was low. even the OC came to talk to us and not the other platoons. =P

the worst thing abt the camp though is the cleaning and all. we had to wash our tools, field packs and rifle. cleaning the rifle is not easy sia, no matter how u clean it, platoon sergeant would always manage to find a place that u didnt clean. we reached company line at abt 10am, but we only went into our bunks at 8.30 pm. the in between time was spent cleaning. and i missed BIC(you leopard crawl den back crawl abt 100m with live rounds firing over ur head) cos i was sick and no matter how much i pleaded, PS jus wouldnt let me take part. the comabt rations sux too. its all a lie!!! the ration sux. except for the desserts and noodles and biscuits.

very good camp experience sia, and i got to know my bunk mates so much better lar and the bond we created in jus a month together. only 4d3n thus its nothing compared to wad the PES A/B pple go thru (7d6n). its very tough out there in the field(u get punished for every single mistake u make) but very fun. and as the saying goes, Tough training doesnt last, Tough man last.

jus caught CLICK yesterday with josh and sharon. personally, i think its a very powerful show. despite it being a comedy with adam sandler (im a fan of his work) as the lead, it brings a forward a very important message. that family is very important especially with a society of today.

its depicts adam sandler as a workaholic who always allows work to take priority over his family. and when he got himself a remote controller that enables him to fast forward time so that he can 'reach his final destination quicker', he begins to abuse it. by the time he realises the consequences of his actions, he has already allowed the controller to dictate his life and made him lose all the time he could have spent taking care of his family and watching his kids grow up.

the scene where he saw his father before his father died was damn sad. especially since it came in the form of sandler's memory. he was 'fast forwarded' to beyond his father's death, so he went back in time, to the point where he last saw his father. not only did he realise how much he hurt his father with his actions, he also comes to realise that he will nv see this person again. the part where he kept replaying his father's last words is a real tear jerker sia.

den the scene where he chased his son in the rain is beyond words sia. especially when he finally got his family back together only when he was dying. the note written ' will you love me in the morning?' followed by the answer 'forever and ever, babe' is my favourite quote from the entire film sia. it came in only 2 scene but it left a very huge impression on me.

personally recommend everybody to go and watch the show. especially those workaholics out there, it really makes you appreciate your family so much more. this show also proves that sandler can handle very serious roles too, despite his status as a comedic actor. the show combines comedy with moral lessons really well, incorporating very subtle but important issues smoothly with typical sandler humor. it can get pretty crude at times lar, but thats typical sandler what. whats important is the film is great. i say 8.5/10 because only a show like Band of Brothers deserve 10/10.

i can say my first book out wasnt wasted lar. fri nite went to athar with saf, sharon and josh. told them abt my army life and all. den went home to sleep.

on sat, went to sylbest's 21st bdae chalet at SAFRA country club. that place was uber cool sia. big and cosy but very ulu. anyhow, we got him a crumpler bag lar. but i should say its jaz and jason who got him the bag cos they were the ones who went to buy while i only paid. that jason ah, really understands best inside out lor. the colour and everything he chose was like tailor made for best de.

we reached there earliest and nobody was there yet. so the 4 of us had a little chat. sitting on the bench outside and catching up with each other was cool sia, kinda like the days we used to spend in biz park except we didnt have iced milo with us, instead it was chicken wings and otar this time ard. other pple started to arrive in grps. some i know some i dun, but the coolest thing was seeing my poly frens again especially lee jing and sara. the rest of the time went by with me and jaz stuck to the TV cos superband was on but i did leave the tv to catch up with the others lar. hahaha. milu bing won. den it was phototaking and after that pple started to leave. we were considering whether to leave or not lar, but sara saw the mahjong table and mahjong set which was our cue to stay put. lol. as best was sending his frens home; jaz, sara, lee jing and me decided to play thru the nite. which means colin was stranded cos sara was staying and he was damn tired. li lian and jason were stuck too, cos lee jing was not leaving and neither was me and jaz.

the game was fun sia, played till like 1am before best's family took over. while me, best, jaz and jason went out to get tidbits. colin was sleeping like a log. returned to the chalet and continued our mahjong game. in the end, i did not sleep for the whole nite lor cos we played till 7am. and i have to say, sara and lee jing's stamina damn strong lar. they didnt even seem tired.

and the gambling did not end, blackjack was up nxt. played till nearly 8.30 before best sent us off. i did not return home to sleep though. came back, packed my boots and left for soccer with my SWIFT pple. reached there, and damn they were all late, but i was darn tired lar. didnt have the energy and stamina to work. so i left it to shao wei, kwee chuang, brandon, wee poh and dai yuan. hahaha, they trashed the opposing team lar. i replaced dai yuan later, was on the court for less than 2 mins when it started to rain like hell. wad a waste sia. even though i didnt play much, it was still worth it jus seeing them.

didnt have lunch with them cos i had to go get my specs done. bloody hell, why do i need specs sia??!! hahaha, i dun mind lar, as long as i can get marksman. went to this place called eye zone at toa payoh, xiu hui told me abt the place and cos i could get it within 30mins, i thought y not lar. followed xiu hui's directions and true enuff that place was damn easy to spot lar. the specs set me back by 98 bucks and degree of short sightedness was only 100 in each eye lor. anyhow, went home and slept for like 2 hrs before booking in.

ytd, booked out at 9pm. reached home and jaz asked me out for supper with him and best at jalan kayu. i thought y not lar, since they were picking me up. went there and we started to eat and talk. intro them neslo, hahaha. they got addicted too. we den went to seletar dam. it was a damn ulu place lar, alot of cars and bikes were parked there to show off and all. but its a very nice place for frens to hang out, we were facing the reservoir or maybe the sea ba, the view is very nice. lying down and looking at the sky, the sky seemed endless and the stars were damn bright too. i didnt know such a place existed in singapore lar. but it does!!!! we sat down there and chatted till abt 3.30am ba. talked abt alot of stuffs sia; abt our frens, our lives and how much we have changed since we first met in TB12, our worries and troubles.....

den we left for best's place and i went to sleep immediately. was damn shag lar. left best's place at abt 7am and took a cab home cos i was too darn tired liao. reached home and slept till now. booking in later at 2050. Field Camp nxt week!! cool sia =)

lastly, Jeff Hardy has re-signed for WWE liao. cool sia. him on the biggest stage of all time again. cant wait to see him in his first match.

alright, finally back infront of my computer after 2 weeks of being totally cut off from the outside world. this will be a freaking long post lar. so bear with me a little ya.

firstly, my company is Ulyssess. company mascot is a roman warrior/god of war. cool sia. my bunk is a sea view bunk which is damn cool lar cos we are the only few companies with sea view bunks (jus like some 5 stars hotel). im in platoon 4, section 1, bed 13. most of my platoon mates know me as NEH. simply put, i once pointed middle finger with the sound NEH. and thus, it has stuck with me. my platoon commanders are; Platoon Commander (PC) 2nd Lieutenant Saufi(he is half malay, half chinese), 2nd Sergeant Toh, 3rd Sergeant Varun and 3rd Sergeant Fahd. they are all very nice pple and really cares for the platoon's welfare. although Sgt Fahd can be pretty strict at times. all of my platoon mates are PES C pple, but that doesnt mean they are weak or genging. most of them are PES C becos of sports injuries and things that are out of their control and thus PES C. the company Sergeant Major is Staff Sergeant Jason Lim. can say he is my favourite guy of the company, cos he always has alot of funny stories and things to tell us. and at the same time, he can work us really really hard. Lieutenant Ming Cai is also another funny guy, always making us laugh with his antics. my platoon is also the comany firefighters, which mean to say, if ever a fire breaks out. Platoon 4 would be the ones trying to contain/ put out the fire.

first few days in camp were pretty tough lar, cos u dunnoe anybody and u start to miss home coupled with the fact that we have to sleep at 2230 and wake up at 0530. good thing was they gave us ample time to know each other in the bunk. as the days went by, we got to know each other better and training started. the training were all very interesting sia. learnt alot of things. although there is a need for PT, i think its kinda good too lar cos can get to exercise and learn things at the same time. i had foot drills, arms drills and weapon handling and basically all the army stuffs. they were all damn fun lar and the days seem to pass by very quickly. and i have to say, the proudest moment of my life occured in BMT lar. there was a Weapons Ceremony where every recruit will be issued their own rifle by their PC in the parade square. before receiving our weapon we will have to recite the SAF Pledge and after receiving the weapon the RIFLE Pledge. while reciting the SAF pledge i had tears in my eyes
lar cos its so touching and made me feel like a man destined to protect his country. =P

den we went to live range. woohooo. thats was uber cool sia. saw a real weapon with real rounds firing and Sgt Iswandi damn accurate lar. he hit all the targets from a range of 100m lor. the sound is damn loud and all of us had to wear ear plugs. i was also appointed an armskote personnel becos i have nice handwriting but i have to say ah, my handwriting really not that good lar. so i dunnoe why lar. hahaha. i also learned to do things fast sia. as Lieutenant Ming Cai says, Chop, Chop, Curry Pork(its suppose to be puff but we pronounce as pork). we also learned to march and sing properly. all the songs damn nice lar. these 2 are my favourite:

Have You ever Wondered
Training to be Soldiers
Fight for our land
Once in our lives
2 yrs of our time
Have you ever wondered
Why must we serve
Becos we love our land
And we want it to be free to be free ya!!!

Stand up, Be on your guard
Come on everybody, do your part
Come on every soldier, show them how
Do it for our nation
Do it for our Singapore ya!!!

Looking all ard us
Pple everywhere
Children having fun
While we are holding guns
Have you ever wondered
Why must we serve
Becos we love our land
And we want it to be free to be free ya!!!

When the Cold Wind blows
In the early evening march
With my full pack on my back
With the aching in my heart
And my shirt is full of sweat

Im a long long way from home
And i miss my lover so
In the early morning run
When the cold wind blows X5

I know I know, You have to go
So hurry back home
Cos I miss you so

i find the lyrics very meaningful sia.

jus 2 weeks and i got to know my bunk mates so much better than some of the frens outside lar. and my bunk always has the most food lar. bought from e-mart and contributions from Rahul (he is like a mama shop lar). my favourite is chips and Snickers. in this 2 weeks i also learnt to be self disciplined lar and how to wash my own clothes. especially self discipline cos i couldnt allow my mistakes to drag the whole platoon down. im also certified a non swimmer by the SAF meaning i have to learn how to swim. =(

i also took part in drill competition as well as tug of war. tug of war is really not easy lor. requires alot of coordination, stamina as well as technique. but uber cool sia. during one of the lectures, Lieutenant Audi showed us a video of his OCS time too(accompanied by the song "Wake me up when September" ends by Green Day)[goosebumps all ard sia]. wah lao, its exactly wad i want in life lar. the things they do are so interesting and action packed. training in brunei and taiwan as well as field exercises. makes me wanna be a PES A/B soldier even more lar. seeing all this action made me jealous very very much. went to Simulated Range too also known as IMT. it was cool lar, but i got fucked upside down cos i couldnt get my shooting posture right. anyhow, we all learn from mistakes lar and im happy too cos first time at IMT and my shooting lane was 12. hehehe.

i guess i do like army life after all although it can get pretty regimental e.g. standby bed where the Sergeant tries to find fault with your area cleaning. still considering whether to upgrade my PES status or not.

i'll leave it here with a couple of words that we use in camp.

PsychoMotor - A person who marches with his left hand left leg, right hand right leg
MindFuck - Too much information in the head and it becomes overloaded
Cocksters - A blur cock
Suck thumb - Lan lan; jus have to buckle down and bear with it

Sergeant Major also told us this joke:
2 Malays play 4D
3 Indians drink like fuck
4 Chinese........ Play Mahjong
