Very meaningful lyrics from Beyond's 海阔天空. kinda applies to me in some weird way. everybody's always looking for freedom, wanting to be free. and here he is apologizing that he will nv give up freedom even though freedom is something that everybody deserves.
especially the last verse where he reinstates that he is his own person, doing things his own way. WHOA!! how many pple craves for that but could nv achieve it. i guess thats why he had to apologise for wanting to be free. 1 person doing things their own way would mean causing much inconvenience to the many others ard him. why is it that we are all like that? cant a person jus live for himself? yeah, its definitely selfish. but if everybody learns to take care of themselves, wouldnt it mean not placing a hassle on other pple? i know its impossible lar, but if it ever becomes possible, wouldnt it mean lesser fighting and so much more time for peace?
how many times have we seen war erupted becos of discontent with wad is going on, pple claiming that wad they are doing it to create a better future. but isnt it so much better if everybody jus mind their own business and set their focus on finding the freedom within themselves or jus doing things that they like? life would be so much more uncomplicated lar and of course lesser fighting and bloodshed. lets jus take a look at the middle east, they are all basically arabs but why is it that they cant find peace within themselves? and the middle east has the most oil resources in the world lar, if they put aside all the fighting and concentrate more on the improvement of their region, im sure they can even rival the G8 lar. and africa, all the civil wars has jus torn the area apart lar. even in their own country, there are like 2 different government.
even though the world has improved much over the yrs, but in terms of humanity, we seemed to have moved back 30 to 40 yrs lar. its as if with every step we take forward results in us losing a bit more of our humanity.
now that im listening to Beyond, i realise that they are like 1000 times better than SH!N. their songs jus connects with pple lar, theres always a meaning behind their songs and it always touches on issues that concerns common folks like you and me.
may Wong Ka Kui rest in peace. today is the 14th year since he passed on. (coming a lil late from me though) but the legacy of Beyond still lives in many Hong Kongers.
and some minor changes in my blog to accomodate the chinese words, looks kinda weird though. =P
